A Constructive Meeting between the Opposition and the Independent Parliamentary Gathering

The chairman of “Project Watan’s” Executive Board, Deputy Neemat Frem, posted the following on his X account: “The deputies of the opposition forces and the Independent Parliamentary Gathering had a constructive meeting, during which we expressed great welcome to their initiative and wished it all the success. We also discussed the roadmap to overcome the obstacles hindering the presidential election.”

He added: “We emphasized the importance of building on the results of all previous initiatives regarding the presidential election to reach a vision that brings together all parties.”

He continued: “We sensed, during the meeting, the commitment of all participants to respect the position of the Speaker of the House and its role in electing a president, while taking into account the concern of not creating new, unconstitutional norms.”

Frem concluded: “In my personal opinion, in case of breakthroughs in the regional situation, the remaining internal distance to find the appropriate scenario to launch the consultation process – under the Constitution and within the respect of the presidency of the parliament and its powers – to elect a president of the republic, is not far-fetched.”
