Frem at the General Labor Confederation’s Headquarters to Discuss the Social Protection File

Deputy Neemat Frem visited the headquarters of the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers to discuss the social protection file with its leadership and to emphasize the essential role of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) in protecting the working class and supporting its resilience during this phase.

During the meeting, Frem praised the recent measures undertaken by the NSSF to reactivate and expand its services, stressing the importance of equipping and digitizing the fund’s centers in various Lebanese regions and modernizing working methods.

The attendees confirmed the necessity of an agreement between the NSSF and hospitals on a unified fixed price for medical procedures to yield positive outcomes, along with the need to establish a clear mechanism for the timely payment of due bills.

They also agreed on requesting the allocation of necessary funds for the NSSF in the 2025 public budget, similar to the funding allocated for the State Employees Cooperative. Furthermore, they decided to work on adopting a fixed amount in institutions, factories, and where needed.

In conclusion, the attendees called for the activation of modern laws related to Social Security, including the latest retirement and social protection bills. They also urged for expediting the approval of interim laws to mitigate the impact of the economic collapse on end-of-service compensation and medical coverage, so that the individuals benefiting from the NSSF services can regain the sense of security and protection they lost due to this social catastrophe.
