Frem calls for a ceasefire and the election of a president: The situation is unbearable

The Chairman of Project Watan’s Executive Board, MP Neemat Frem, stated that “the primary concern today revolves around a fundamental issue: achieving a ceasefire and restoring calm.”

“The situation has become unbearable, with 1.3 million displaced persons and winter approaching, while schools remain closed,” Frem said after meeting with the leader of the Kataeb Party, MP Sami Gemayel.

He added: “The ceasefire is fundamental, as is the implementation of Resolution 1701, and the election of a president who embodies the qualities that are a priority for the Lebanese people, because the interests of the nation and its citizens are above all other considerations. We do not want war, and it is not even a decision of the government or the Parliament. On behalf of every suffering child, every displaced family, and every person who has lost hope in their present and future, we say: stop this madness.”

Frem pointed out that there are “significant decisions to be taken.” He added: “We support initiatives coming from legitimate institutions, including the Parliament and the caretaker government, so that through the election of a president, we can enter a new era where decision-making processes and the functioning of constitutional institutions in Lebanon can return to normal.”
