Frem meets with the Jounieh & Keserwan-Ftouh Traders Association

MP Neemat Frem hosted the president and members of the “Jounieh & Keserwan-Ftouh Traders Association” at his residence, to discuss Lebanon’s new phase and its impact on the commercial sector in Jounieh and Keserwan-Ftouh. The meeting also explored ways to boost the sector and overcome obstacles for a promising spring and summer season.

“Welcome to your home. I am honored to meet with the association’s president and members, who serve as a model of consensus and goodwill, as demonstrated in the recent committee elections. We hope to see the same spirit in all upcoming challenges,” Frem said after the meeting.

He added: “We have significant work ahead in this new era, where opportunities for success and prosperity are within reach. Over the past two months, we have already witnessed positive movements in the markets. Now, we must work together to ensure that Keserwan-Ftouh experiences a prosperous summer season, rather than another year weighed down by crises. The decision has been made to recover as swiftly as possible.”

Frem highlighted the outstanding ideas and plans put forward by the committee, emphasizing the need to leverage Keserwan’s exceptional assets – from its coastline to its mountains, including schools, universities, Jeita Grotto, Harissa, and Jounieh tourist port.

“As an MP representing Keserwan and someone deeply committed to development (…), Jounieh’s new tourist port is of particular importance to me. However, in the meantime, reviving the old port is a quicker and simpler solution. With just the establishment of a General Security post, it could be operational within two weeks, allowing us to open a direct route to Cyprus and take full advantage of the summer season. This step would help revitalize Jounieh’s souks and the entire region,” he explained.

Frem also stressed that “the fastest way to generate economic returns for Lebanon as a whole is by maximizing the potential of the ski resorts in Ouyoun-Al-Simane.”

“This snow is not just ours; it belongs to all our Arab brothers, and we must attract tourists from around the world to Lebanon. Achieving this requires addressing the traffic congestion issue. We have received assurances from the Minister of Public Works that swift action will be taken in this regard,” he concluded.

In turn, the president of the “Jounieh & Keserwan-Ftouh Traders Association,” Jacques Hokayem, thanked MP Frem for his hospitality, stating that “Keserwanis take pride in the home of the late former Minister Georges Frem, who was known for his transparency, generosity, and dedication to public service.”

“We came here to present some projects to MP Neemat Frem and were pleased to find that most of them have already been studied and are ready for follow-up with President Joseph Aoun and the relevant ministers. Thanks to MP Frem’s connections, there will be full cooperation in the best interest of the region,” he added.

He concluded: “Today, with your permission, Mr. Frem, we take this opportunity from your home to launch the ‘Project of the people of Keserwan-Ftouh First’, as we are among the most directly concerned with the region’s development. We hope to join hands with you and all stakeholders to restore the glory of Keserwan and the entire area.”
