Frem receives Hawat and members of the “Jbeil Ahla” list: Development is the priority

The Chairman of Project Watan’s Executive Board, MP Neemat Frem, received MP Ziad Hawat and the members of the newly elected municipal council in Jbeil, who won on the “Jbeil Ahla” list headed by Dr. Joseph Chami, at his residence in Jounieh. Also present were Mr. Mounir Frem and the head of Project Watan – Jbeil’s first sector, engineer Youssef Fakieh.

Frem congratulated the elected council, emphasizing that development is a shared priority. “We hope development and productivity will be the cornerstone of your successful path. This was the main driver behind my colleague Ziad Hawat and my own entry into the political arena. We promise to continue supporting your efforts so they may succeed,” he told the members of the winning list.

For his part, MP Hawat revealed that he and Frem are jointly leading a parliamentary battle to amend and update the municipal law, and to establish expanded decentralization – a vital engine for balanced development and healthy competition between regions to deliver the best services to citizens under genuine oversight. “The central authority has paralyzed accountability, and many have an interest in obstructing decentralization in order to maintain political clientelism and control over the people and decision-making. MP Frem and I are aligned in our efforts to build a better system for our citizens,” he said.

Dr. Joseph Chami, in turn, recalled a long-standing history of cooperation with MP Frem, dating back to the days of the late Minister Georges Frem and continuing through Project Watan during the COVID-19 pandemic, when ICU rooms were equipped with ventilators. He called for continued political support for administrative decentralization to enable the municipal council to fully harness the capacities and expertise of its members across various fields.
