Frem: Thinking of writing off depositors' savings is forbidden

Lebanese Deputy Neemat Frem uttered that depositors’ savings are a trust and thinking of writing them off is strictly forbidden.

He tweeted: “I was honored to meet today with the ‘Depositors’ Outcry’ Association, in ‘Project Watan’s’ headquarters. In this occasion, I repeat again and again that the depositors' savings are a trust and returning them to their owners, even if after a while, is mandatory. This matter must be a goal at the core of the financial recovery plan. It is strictly forbidden to even think about writing off these funds; otherwise, confidence in Lebanon and its banking sector will be forever lost."
