Frem: Why Challenge Specialists’ Expertise at the Expense of Citizens?

The President of Project Watan’s Executive Board, MP Neemat Frem, wrote on his X account:

“Following the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Public Works and Energy, I was struck by Électricité du Liban’s promise to restart the Jiyeh and Zouk power plants.

I thank EDL for this, while regretting at the same time that these two plants have been out of operation for nearly a year. They are EDL’s two newest power generation units, operating on fuel oil using reciprocating engines with outstanding efficiency (over 45%) and a generation cost that currently stands at around 24 cents per kilowatt-hour, at least half the cost of generation at EDL’s other plants.

How long will specialists’ expertise continue to be challenged and technology undermined at the expense of citizens?”
