“Project Watan” Calls for a Bold Decision to Make Concessions for Lebanon and Its Legitimate Institutions

“Project Watan’s” Executive Board held its weekly meeting, chaired by MP Neemat Frem, with all members in attendance. The discussions revolved around Lebanon’s future amid the ongoing war, which shows no signs of resolution. The following statement was issued afterward:

  1. “Project Watan” considers the massive loss of lives and the extensive destruction of Lebanese properties – regardless of people’s stances on the support war that has brought Lebanon to this point – to be deeply painful. Without delving into assigning blame, but with the aim of rescuing Lebanon, the Project emphasizes the urgent need for a bold decision to make concessions for Lebanon and its legitimate institutions. It calls for declaring the sole victory after the cessation of hostilities, to be Lebanon’s triumph as a homeland, state and people. This can only be achieved by restoring the state’s exclusive authority over decisions of war and peace, adhering to its legitimate institutions in cooperation with international forces, and finalizing solutions to all disputed border points.
  2. The Executive Board reflected on the resolutions of the Riyadh Islamic Summit and commended its support for Lebanon, the Lebanese Army, and the full implementation of Resolution 1701 – matters that are non-negotiable if we want to preserve our country. Lebanon must, therefore, keep pace with international political changes, negotiate directly on its own behalf, and define its vision for the future. Otherwise, others will negotiate on its behalf.
  3. The Board affirmed that the time has come for all parties to return to the unity of the Lebanese arena and work toward building a strong, capable state across all levels – military, security, economic, financial, and social – without exception. The estimated total losses from the war so far amount to $20 billion, underscoring the urgent need for all parties to seriously commit to reviving Lebanon’s economy, attracting investments for reconstruction, and creating a new dynamic for job opportunities. This would free people from the nightmare of misery, despair, and dependency.
  4. The Executive Board also applauded the outstanding performance of the creative Elie Saab and the mesmerizing event in Saudi Arabia, which brought together global celebrities and showcased exceptional Lebanese creativity in elegance and innovation.

This event heralds a new phase – one that may inspire the Middle East to adopt strategies centered on human happiness and unleashing positive potential.
