Project Watan: To Consistently Work Towards Prioritizing the Interests and Future of Our Nation

Project Watan’s Executive Board held its weekly meeting, chaired by Deputy Neemat Frem, with all members in attendance to discuss the latest developments. The following statement was issued afterward:

  • Project Watan warns of the expansion of the war in Lebanon and fears a potential escalation preceding the upcoming visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the USA on July 24th. Vigilance regarding Israeli intentions is of utmost importance, especially as Netanyahu is seeking excuses to portray himself as a victim to garner moral sympathy and material support.
  • Following the statement issued by the administration of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), which is seen as a positive development in terms of covering 90% of hospitalization costs in specific cases, Project Watan reached out to relevant parties in medical institutions. These institutions indicated that the NSSF contribution would not exceed 30% of the actual cost, as there is no agreement between the NSSF and hospital administrations. What is needed now is to mitigate the risks faced by citizens registered with the NSSF, who are negatively affected by the ongoing conflict between the fund and the hospitals, and to find a swift solution for patients suffering at the doors of hospitals.
  • Project Watan perceives clear indications of a significant shift in popular sentiment from the preliminary results of elections taking place in major Western countries. This suggests that we are on the brink of substantial changes that will inevitably impact these countries’ priorities regarding immigration laws, tax systems, and military, security, and foreign policies. As Lebanese, whether living abroad or in Lebanon, we must be aware of these changes and consistently work towards prioritizing the interests and future of our nation.
