“Project Watan”: To elect a president who will lead the decisive phase and safeguard the entity

“Project Watan’s” Executive Board held its weekly meeting, chaired by MP Neemat Frem, with all members present to discuss the ongoing war in Lebanon and ways to alleviate the people’s suffering. The following statement was issued afterward:

  • The Board urges all Lebanese parties to prioritize the election of a president who can lead this decisive phase, play a pivotal role in ceasefire negotiations, and manage the country in collaboration with all components at all levels, given the severe threat to Lebanon’s entity and existence. Today, Lebanon is headless and fragmented, with the war persisting and reaching a perilous stage. It is time for Lebanon to secure its place amid regional changes and under all circumstances.
  • “Project Watan” expresses deep sadness at the destruction, killing, and displacement experienced by the Lebanese people. It urges the international community to take action to establish a ceasefire while advocating for the implementation of relevant international resolutions concerning Lebanon. The Board emphasizes the need to save Lebanon before it is too late by separating it from any regional axes and recognizing the legitimacy of the Lebanese army and institutions as the refuge and guarantee for building a strong, capable state that ensures the rights of all components.
  • As the number of displaced individuals fleeing their homes and villages increases, “Project Watan” calls on everyone who can assist to alleviate their suffering, embrace them, and provide moral and material support. The sight of people from various regions interacting and coming together highlights the prevailing sense of brotherhood and humanity among Lebanese citizens over everything else. It is crucial to prevent any form of discord, regardless of its source or cause, from undermining the bonds between displaced individuals and their hosts.
